KARACHI, April 11 – Port Qasim reported steady cargo handling and vessel movement over the past 24 hours, with port authorities highlighting sustained maritime activity across key terminals, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
The daily shipping and cargo report, compiled at 0800 hours, showed that a wide range of commodities continued to flow through the port, including coal, palm oil, containerized cargo, soybean seed, phosphoric acid and petroleum products such as gas oil and bitumen. The consistent handling of both dry bulk and liquid cargo reflects the port’s strategic role in supporting Pakistan’s industrial and energy requirements.
Port officials confirmed that at least 10 vessels were berthed at various terminals, while several additional ships remained at outer anchorage awaiting berthing clearance. The steady arrival and departure of vessels indicate a stable operational cycle, supported by coordinated marine scheduling and efficient logistics management.
Cargo operations remained particularly active at major terminals, including Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) and other specialized facilities handling liquid and dry cargo. Tankers carrying fuel and chemical products were also part of the ongoing operations, underscoring the port’s contribution to maintaining energy supply chains.
The report further noted that vessels from multiple international origins, including Brazil, Indonesia, Oman and South Africa, were part of the current shipping lineup, highlighting Port Qasim’s connectivity with global trade routes.
Industry analysts say the continued flow of cargo and vessel traffic demonstrates resilience in Pakistan’s maritime sector despite global supply chain challenges. As one of the country’s primary gateways for imports and exports, Port Qasim remains critical to ensuring the smooth movement of essential goods and supporting overall economic activity.
