Karachi, February 15, 2024 – Port Qasim, a vital hub for maritime trade, has released its shipping activity report for Thursday, February 15, 2024, providing valuable insights for stakeholders in the maritime industry.
Four ships, namely America, Lady Dimine, Taho Australia, and Khairpur, carrying Containers, Wheat, Rape seeds, and Mogas, berthed at Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Grain Terminal, and Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday, contributing to the port’s bustling activity.
In addition to these, three more ships, Rong Da Chang Sha, Al-Jassasiya, and Evriali, carrying General cargo, LNG, and Wheat, arrived at the outer anchorage of the port during the last 24 hours, highlighting the diverse range of goods being transported through Port Qasim.
The port was actively engaged with a total of 09 ships at its berths during the last 24 hours. Among them, two ships, Lokoja and Alcyone-I, left the port on Thursday morning, while four more ships, America, Stockholm Eagle, Bow Endeavor, and Epic Sunter, are expected to set sail in the afternoon, further contributing to the dynamic maritime landscape.
The throughput during the last 24 hours reached an impressive 131,788 tonnes, comprising 94,315 tonnes of import cargo and 37,473 tonnes of export cargo. This includes containerized cargo carried in 2,710 Containers (660 TEUs Imports and 2,050 TEUs export), showcasing the significance of Port Qasim as a major trade gateway.
At present, 11 ships are positioned at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, three ships—MU Dan Song, Al-Jassasiya, and Marin Aman—and two more ships—Maersk Cape Town and Sea Span Beacon—are expected to take berths at MW-2, EEETL, LCT, and QICT on Thursday, further amplifying the port’s role in handling a diverse range of cargoes, including Iron ore, LNG, Palm oil, and Containers.
