Karachi, January 2, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released the shipping activity report for Tuesday, January 2, 2024, highlighting a bustling maritime landscape with multiple vessels engaged in diverse cargo operations.
On Monday, three ships, namely MSC Jemima, Luna Rossa, and IVS Crimson Creek, berthed at the Container Terminal, Grain Terminal, and Bulk Terminal, respectively. These ships were laden with containers, wheat, and coal, underscoring the port’s versatility in handling a variety of goods.
Additionally, four more vessels, including Maersk Kensington, Rich Rainbow, FSM, and Limra, arrived at the outer-anchorage of Port Qasim in the last 24 hours. These ships are set to load and unload containers, palm oil, and LPGs, contributing to the continuous flow of cargo operations at the port.
During the same period, a total of ten ships were actively engaged at PQA berths. Two of them, namely Ullswater and Sunray, left the port on the morning of January 2, while three more ships – MSC Jemima, Leila Confidence, and Al-Bidda – are expected to sail on the same day.
The cargo handling operations at Port Qasim remained robust, with a total volume of 160,397 tonnes. This comprised 120,463 tonnes of imported cargo and 39,934 tonnes of exported cargo, transported in 2,852 containers (1,937 TEUs for imports and 915 TEUs for exports) over the past 24 hours.
The breakdown of the cargo by commodity revealed a diverse range of goods being transported through the port. The continuous flow of trade activities at Port Qasim is indicative of its pivotal role in facilitating both import and export operations, contributing significantly to the country’s economic landscape.
Currently, six ships are positioned at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, three vessels – Rich Rainbow, Limra, and Maersk Kensington – and another ship, MSC Archimids, carrying palm oil, LPG, and containers, are expected to take berths at LCT, EVTL, and QICT, respectively, on the same day. Additionally, two more container ships, Marathopolis and San Francisco Bridge, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday, further enhancing the port’s capacity for containerized cargo.
