Karachi, October 23, 2024 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) released its shipping activity report for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, highlighting significant movements and cargo operations to facilitate port stakeholders.

During the past 24 hours, Port Qasim saw active shipping activity, with five vessels—MSC Mundra-VIII, Atlantic Ibis, Rasha, Alea, and Mariman—docking at various terminals. These ships were involved in the loading and offloading of containers, cement, rice, and coal at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal, Grain Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, respectively.

A total of 12 ships were stationed at PQA berths during this period. Among them, the container vessel ‘Atlantic Ibis’ departed the port early this morning. Additionally, five more ships, Maersk Sentosa, MSC Mundra-VIII, Cl-Huaiyang, Orange Victoria, and Ellan Manx, are expected to set sail later today, reflecting the ongoing robust activity at the port.

Port Qasim handled a significant cargo volume of 123,725 tonnes in the last 24 hours. This total consisted of 90,308 tonnes of import cargo and 33,417 tonnes of export cargo. Additionally, 2,087 containers (666 TEUs for imports and 1,421 TEUs for exports) were processed at the port, indicating a substantial flow of goods through the facility.

Currently, 11 ships are stationed at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, awaiting further directives. Of these, two vessels, Madha Silver and Bam Bam, along with two others, MSC Positano and Maersk Cape Town, are expected to dock at Liquid Cargo Terminal (LCT), Fauji Oil Terminal (FOTCO), and Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), respectively, later today. These vessels are carrying palm oil, gas oil, and containers, further enhancing the port’s import and export capacity.

Looking ahead, two more container ships, Torrente and San Diego Bridge, are scheduled to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, October 24, further contributing to the dynamic shipping operations at one of Pakistan’s busiest maritime gateways.
