According to the daily update issued at 0800 hours on Friday, multiple vessels engaged in berthing, sailing, and shifting activities, indicating uninterrupted port functionality and efficient logistical handling.
Port Qasim continues to serve as a critical node in Pakistan’s import and export supply chain. The seamless operations on May 16 ensured the handling of vital commodities such as phosphoric acid, iron ore, containers, and soybean seed. Several major vessels, including M.T. GINGA OCELOT and M.T. CHEMROAD ZENITH, were involved in transporting chemical cargo, highlighting the port’s capability in managing specialized liquid bulk.
In addition, container ships like M.V. SEASPAN CALICANTO and M.V. CMA CGM ZANZIBAR docked at terminals designated for handling large-scale containerized freight, showing the port’s increasing importance for regional trade routes and global shipping networks. The presence of various agents and terminal operations companies ensured timely berthing and departure, maintaining an uninterrupted flow of operations.
Shifting activities were also recorded, with vessels such as M.V. CORINNA and M.V. GLORIA being moved between berths and anchorages. This internal maneuvering reflects the strategic planning required to accommodate high shipping traffic and maximize berth availability at the port.
Port Qasim’s updated operational report underlines its critical role in supporting Pakistan’s economy, especially at a time when maritime trade is vital for ensuring uninterrupted supply chains. With modernized infrastructure and committed staff, the port is handling growing shipping volumes with efficiency and discipline.
The PQA has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating stakeholders by maintaining transparent and timely information on all ongoing and upcoming shipping operations. These efforts not only strengthen confidence among importers and exporters but also highlight Port Qasim’s evolving stature as a regional maritime hub, ensuring that port operations remain unhindered despite rising demands on logistics and trade flows.
