Lahore, December 30, 2025 — The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has launched a large-scale enforcement drive against tax defaulters, impounding records from 11 business outlets during inspections carried out across major cities of Punjab.
The grand operation covered Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Taxila, and Bahawalpur, targeting non-compliance in the hospitality and food sectors.
According to a PRA spokesperson, enforcement teams conducted inspections of 58 marquees and food points as part of the crackdown aimed at strengthening sales tax compliance. During the operation, records from 11 outlets, including a well-known fast-food chain, were seized due to serious discrepancies. Additionally, sales records of four prominent hotels were taken into custody after authorities identified major irregularities.
In Johar Town, Lahore, PRA officials detected manipulation and tampering of sales data at two branches of a fast-food chain and a renowned restaurant. The spokesperson further disclosed that notices were issued to 40 food outlets and seven marquees for failing to install the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS), which is designed to ensure real-time reporting of sales and curb tax evasion.
The PRA reiterated that collecting tax from consumers but failing to deposit it into the government treasury is a criminal offense under the law. The authority emphasized that eliminating fake and manual receipts and ensuring a transparent, technology-driven tax collection system remain top priorities.
To promote compliance and transparency, the PRA has urged the public to verify electronic invoices through the PRA Sahulat mobile application. The authority reaffirmed that similar enforcement actions will continue across Punjab to deter tax evasion and protect government revenue.
