Lahore, January 6, 2026 — The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has announced an ambitious plan for sectoral expansion aimed at broadening the provincial tax base and ensuring sustainable growth in revenue collection. The initiative reflects the authority’s continued focus on tax reforms, improved enforcement, and greater documentation of the economy.
PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra chaired a high-level review meeting on Monday to assess progress against revenue targets for the current financial year. During the meeting, officials presented proposals for the creation of 100 new tax sectors within the PRA framework. The plan also includes the induction of new officers to strengthen administrative capacity and enhance tax outreach across previously under-documented segments of the services sector.
The chairman commended PRA officers for delivering a record-breaking revenue collection of Rs149.5 billion during the first half of the ongoing fiscal year. This represents a robust 35 percent increase compared to the same period last year, underscoring the positive impact of recent policy measures and enforcement strategies.
In addition to sectoral expansion, the meeting decided to roll out structured and specialized training programmes for Enforcement Officers. These initiatives aim to enhance professional skills, improve compliance monitoring, and ensure fair and effective tax enforcement across Punjab.
Moazzam Iqbal Sipra noted that recent amendments to PRA laws have already produced visible gains in tax revenues. He stressed that greater coordination and support from other government departments would be sought to promote transparency, data sharing, and long-term growth in tax collection. The chairman reaffirmed PRA’s commitment to implementing comprehensive reforms to achieve higher revenue targets in the second half of the financial year and further strengthen the province’s fiscal position.
