Prime Minister Orders Swift Plan to Reduce High Electricity Bills

In a determined effort to tackle the mounting issue of excessive electricity bills, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has taken charge by demanding a comprehensive plan featuring tangible steps to rationalize power tariffs.

The urgency of the matter prompted him to preside over an emergency meeting in Islamabad on Sunday. During the meeting, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the importance of developing measures that alleviate the financial burden on the national treasury while ensuring enhanced convenience for consumers.

He firmly instructed that this plan be formulated within the next 48 hours. Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the need for a multi-faceted approach, insisting on the presentation of short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies to introduce substantial reforms within the power sector. These reforms are envisaged to streamline the industry, optimize cost-efficiency, and improve service delivery.

Turning his attention to the prevalent issue of free electricity perks enjoyed by various officials and institutions, Prime Minister Kakar directed relevant ministries to furnish complete details in this regard.
