Procedure to lodge complaints against banks in Pakistan

KARACHI: Banking Mohtasib (Ombudsman) Pakistan has simplified procedure to lodge complaints against banks in Pakistan.

The complaints may be lodged online by visiting official portal of Banking Mohtasib Pakistan (BMP).

1. The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan entertain complaints against Schedule Banks.

2. The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan has no jurisdiction to entertain complaints against State Bank of Pakistan, Micro Finance Banks, Investments Banks, etc.

3. The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan does not have the powers to direct that Loans, Advances, Credit Cards, etc and related wavers be given/allowed to an applicant.

4. Service Related Issues of Bank employees/ officers, Contractual obligations that are not related to Banking Products and Services are not in purview of Banking Mohtasib Pakistan.

A person can lodge his/her complaint by visiting https://www.bankingmohtasib.gov.pk/Website/compliantform.aspx

Further the person needs to declare on oath:

1. That the matter directly and substantially in issue in my complaint;

a) Is not under investigation by SBP

b) Is not pending adjudication in any court of law, quasi-judicial forum or before any Mohtasib.

c) Nor has already been decided by any court, quasi-judicial forum or any Mohtasib.

2. That I have served the Mandatory Notice on the Bank.

3. Further that:

a) My complaint is not related to Banks policies matter.

b) My complaint is not a duplicate to any of my previous complaint of same nature to Banking Mohtasib.
