With GTA 6 approaching its November release, Sony and Rockstar Games are putting the PlayStation 5 at the centre of the highly anticipated launch.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is now only around two months away from release, and excitement is building among gamers preparing for one of the biggest video game launches in years. The Wall Street Journal has reported that many US workers are already planning to take November 19 off to play the game on launch day.
The PlayStation 5 appears to be emerging as the leading console for GTA 6, helped by the long-standing relationship between Sony and Rockstar Games and the companies’ extensive marketing partnership around the title.
Recent hardware activity has added to the momentum. A PlayStation 5 Pro restock reportedly sold out quickly, suggesting strong demand from players looking to upgrade their consoles ahead of GTA 6.
GTA 6 DualSense Controllers
Sony has also strengthened the PlayStation connection with two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by GTA 6 and its fictional setting of Vice City.
The Black Limited Edition draws inspiration from Vice City’s nightlife, while the White Limited Edition reflects the city’s beaches, pastel skies and daytime atmosphere. Both controllers feature a shimmering finish that changes appearance depending on the viewing angle, alongside palm-tree details and official GTA 6 branding.
The controllers are priced at $84.99. The white model is being offered through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, while availability for the black edition is more restricted, with PlayStation Direct serving as the exclusive retailer in supported regions.
PS5 Features Designed for GTA 6
Sony is also highlighting how GTA 6 will take advantage of the PS5’s hardware. The DualSense controller’s haptic feedback is designed to respond to events taking place in the game, while adaptive triggers can alter resistance during gameplay.
The controller’s built-in speaker will also provide additional audio effects during certain moments, complementing the haptic feedback.
Beyond the controller, Sony says GTA 6 will benefit from the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, which is designed to deliver more precise sound across Vice City and Leonida. The console’s high-speed SSD should also help reduce loading times across the game’s expansive open world.
With Sony repeatedly positioning PlayStation 5 as the “best place to play” GTA 6, the console is receiving significant attention ahead of Rockstar’s November 19 launch.
