Karachi – June 3, 2025: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has officially announced a four-day closure in observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holidays.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the PSX will remain closed from Friday, June 6, 2025, to Monday, June 9, 2025.
This announcement was made through a notification addressed to all Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) holders, staff members, and other stakeholders. The PSX management also extended advance Eid-ul-Adha greetings to all investors, market participants, and the public, wishing for a peaceful and joyous celebration.
The decision to close the stock exchange during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays aligns with the federal government’s official holiday schedule. A notification from the Cabinet Division, released on Monday, confirmed that public holidays will be observed nationwide from June 6 to June 9, giving citizens ample time to take part in Eid-ul-Adha festivities. The holidays apply to all government offices, regardless of whether they follow a five-day or six-day workweek.
These Eid-ul-Adha holidays provide the opportunity for millions across the country to engage in traditional practices associated with the festival, including congregational prayers and the ritual sacrifice of animals, followed by the distribution of meat to family, neighbors, and those in need.
In a separate move, the government of Balochistan has issued its own schedule for the Eid-ul-Adha holidays. According to the Balochistan Services & General Administration Department, the province will observe holidays from June 5 to June 8. Work is expected to resume in Balochistan on Sunday, June 8.
The festival of Eid-ul-Adha, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command, is observed on the 10th day of Zil Hajj, the final month of the Islamic calendar. This year, the first of Zil Hajj fell on May 29, making Eid fall on Saturday, June 7, in Pakistan.
With the PSX closed during this period, trading activity will pause temporarily, resuming on Tuesday, June 10.
