Karachi, December 23, 2025 – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday announced that trading will remain suspended on December 25, 2025, in observance of the public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan.
In an official statement, the PSX informed all Trading Right Entitlement (TRE) certificate holders, staff, and market participants that the exchange will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in recognition of both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. Market operations are expected to resume on the next business day following the holiday.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also confirmed that December 25 will be observed as a bank holiday in line with the national holiday schedule. This synchronization ensures that banking services, which are essential for trading and settlement, will also be unavailable on the same day, aligning with PSX’s closure.
Quaid-e-Azam Day is celebrated annually to honor the birth anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, while Christmas is observed as a national holiday to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Both occasions are recognized every year with public and institutional holidays across the country.
The PSX advises all investors, brokers, and stakeholders to plan their trading and settlement activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience. Market participants are also encouraged to complete any pending transactions before the holiday to ensure smooth operations.
This announcement underscores PSX’s commitment to keeping all market participants informed about trading schedules and public holidays, promoting transparency and efficient market operations.
