PTA Completes QoS Survey for Fixed-Line Broadband in Pakistan

Pakistan Telecom Authority

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released the results of its Quality of Service (QoS) survey for fixed-line broadband services conducted across Pakistan in the third quarter of 2025.

The nationwide assessment covered 34 major cities, including regions in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), aiming to evaluate the performance and reliability of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs).

According to PTA, the survey was carried out to ensure users receive high-quality and dependable internet connectivity. The authority examined several key performance indicators (KPIs), such as network availability, jitter, and latency across both local and international networks. These benchmarks are essential in determining the overall customer experience and efficiency of broadband services.

The findings show that most BSPs in Pakistan were able to meet fundamental performance standards. However, the report highlighted areas needing improvement. Some providers experienced network congestion during peak usage hours, resulting in slower internet speeds and reduced service quality. High bandwidth consumption during busy periods particularly affected user experience, with noticeable drops in connection stability and load handling.

Additionally, elevated latency levels were observed in both local and international segments, indicating possible issues in network routing and backbone infrastructure. Such challenges can negatively impact online activities, including video streaming, gaming, remote work, and communication services.

PTA has advised the concerned operators to take corrective steps to enhance network quality and improve overall service delivery. The authority emphasized the importance of consistent upgrades and optimization to support Pakistan’s growing digital ecosystem, especially as nationwide demand for high-speed internet continues to rise.

Users and stakeholders can access the full detailed survey findings on PTA’s official website. PTA reiterated its commitment to monitoring broadband performance regularly to ensure customers across the country benefit from reliable and high-performing internet services.

The latest QoS survey demonstrates Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, enhance internet quality, and support a more connected future. With continuous evaluation and regulatory oversight, the PTA aims to encourage service providers to maintain global standards and meet increasing user expectations for fast and dependable broadband connectivity.
