Authorities seize networking equipment and detain one person during action against an unlicensed internet operator in Kahna Nau.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has conducted a raid against an illegal internet service provider operating without a valid PTA licence in Lahore.

The raid was carried out by the PTA Zonal Office Lahore and FIA Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) Lahore at the premises of M/s Frontend Internet (SMC-Private Limited) in Mustafi School Street, near Mosque Bilal Baddoki, Kahna Nau, Ferozepur Road.

During the operation, authorities took one person into custody and confiscated networking and other equipment being used for the provision of unauthorised internet services.

The seized items included two Cisco switches, five GPON OLTs, 19 patch cables, three cash memo books and one laptop.

An FIR has been registered in connection with the case, while the FIA is conducting further investigation.

PTA steps up action against illegal internet services

The latest enforcement action reflects PTA’s continued efforts to monitor and curb the operation of illegal internet service providers across the country.

According to the authority, such operations are important for preventing tax evasion and revenue misreporting, while also protecting the national exchequer.

Unlicensed internet service providers can operate outside the regulatory framework, potentially exposing customers to sudden service disruptions and other issues.

PTA has therefore advised consumers to obtain telecom and internet services only from operators holding valid licences from the authority.

The regulator warned that using services provided by unlicensed operators could result in the sudden disruption or discontinuation of internet services.

The Lahore raid is part of PTA’s broader enforcement efforts aimed at ensuring compliance with Pakistan’s telecommunications regulations and preventing unauthorised provision of internet services.
