PTA hosts workshop on community-centered digital connectivity

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) successfully organized a two-day workshop on Community-Centered Connectivity (CCC) to advance digital inclusion and enhance connectivity solutions across the country.

The workshop took place on September 22 and 23, 2025, at PTA Headquarters in Islamabad.

The event brought together industry experts, government representatives, and telecom stakeholders to explore innovative solutions aimed at bridging the digital divide and connecting underserved communities. The initiative is part of PTA’s broader vision to ensure that digital access and inclusion remain at the forefront of Pakistan’s telecommunications development.

PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman attended the event as the chief guest and reviewed the mock CCC models created by participants. In his keynote address, he emphasized the authority’s commitment to fostering connectivity solutions that are both innovative and sustainable. “Digital access and inclusion are central to PTA’s mission, and the CCC approach presents a practical way to ‘connect the unconnected’ across Pakistan,” he stated.

During the workshop, participants developed four tailored CCC solution models designed to address the unique connectivity challenges of local communities. These solutions are intended to be built, operated, and maintained by the communities themselves, ensuring long-term sustainability and empowerment.

The workshop was held in collaboration with the Internet Society (ISOC) and the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP). Representatives from key organizations, including the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoIT&T), PTA, FAB, USF, NRSP, SRSP, and the Community Development Foundation, as well as leading telecom operators, also participated in the event.

Through initiatives like the CCC workshop, PTA continues to strengthen its commitment to inclusive digital transformation, ensuring that every citizen can benefit from the opportunities provided by reliable and affordable connectivity.
