The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has shared simple USSD codes for mobile users to activate the “Balance Save” or Pay-As-You-Go (PayG) Blocker service on their SIM cards. The feature helps prevent unexpected balance deductions once a mobile internet data bundle expires.
Many prepaid mobile users in Pakistan experience sudden balance reductions when their subscribed internet package ends but data usage continues automatically at Pay-As-You-Go rates. These rates are usually higher and can quickly consume the remaining balance without the user noticing.
To address this issue, PTA has advised users to activate the Balance Save feature available across all major telecom networks in the country. Once the service is enabled, internet access automatically stops when the data bundle is fully used. This prevents the system from switching to costly Pay-As-You-Go internet charges.
The telecom regulator emphasized that the Balance Save service is completely free and can be activated through a simple dialing code depending on the mobile network operator.
For Jazz users, the service can be activated by dialing *275# from their mobile phones. Zong subscribers can enable the feature by dialing *4004#. Meanwhile, Ufone customers can activate the PayG Blocker service by dialing *6611#. For Telenor users, the Balance Save feature can be turned on by dialing *342#.
Once activated, mobile internet will automatically stop working when the subscribed data bundle finishes. Users can then subscribe to a new internet package before continuing to browse, ensuring that their balance is not deducted at higher Pay-As-You-Go rates.
PTA encourages all prepaid mobile subscribers to enable this feature to better manage their mobile balance and avoid unnecessary deductions. The regulator said the service is designed to protect consumers and improve transparency in mobile internet usage.
With millions of Pakistanis relying heavily on mobile internet services every day, activating the Balance Save mode is a simple step that can help users maintain control over their mobile expenses and prevent unwanted charges.
