Pakistan Telecom Authority

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken another step toward advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure by organizing a specialized 5G training session in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz. The comprehensive program was held at PTA Headquarters in Islamabad and focused on strengthening the country’s technical readiness for the next generation of mobile connectivity.

According to the official press release issued on April 2, 2026, the training program brought together technical experts and regulatory professionals to enhance understanding of 5G technologies and related network systems. The initiative included detailed sessions covering advanced network testing, 5G migration strategies, measurement techniques, and modern analytics required for next-generation telecom networks.

Experts from Rohde & Schwarz Pakistan (RSPK), the company’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) division, and international trainers from Europe conducted the sessions. Participants received in-depth technical guidance on testing methodologies and standards that are widely used across global telecom markets. The training was designed to help regulatory authorities improve oversight and ensure that Pakistan’s telecom sector is prepared for the eventual rollout of 5G services.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Dr. Khawar Siddiq Khokhar, Member (Compliance & Enforcement) at PTA, highlighted the authority’s long-standing partnership with Rohde & Schwarz. He also acknowledged the contributions of Rohde & Schwarz Pakistan Managing Director Haris Ali and other international experts who supported the initiative.

Dr. Khokhar emphasized that strengthening regulatory capacity and technical knowledge is essential for ensuring reliable, secure, and high-quality telecom services in the country. He reaffirmed PTA’s commitment to maintaining transparency, enforcing compliance standards, and promoting consumer-focused regulation within Pakistan’s evolving telecom ecosystem.

The training session also stressed the importance of aligning Pakistan’s telecom testing practices with global standards. By adopting internationally recognized methodologies, the regulator aims to build a strong framework that supports future 5G deployments and ensures efficient network performance.

With telecom demand continuing to grow across the country, such initiatives are expected to play a vital role in preparing Pakistan for the transition to 5G connectivity and enabling a more advanced digital economy.
