The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has once again reminded mobile users across the country to register their devices to ensure uninterrupted services.
With the clock ticking, unregistered smartphones and handsets risk being blocked if their IMEI numbers are not properly verified and registered under the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
Why Registration is Important
The PTA stresses that device registration is critical to prevent service interruptions and avoid blocking. Mobile phones that are not registered with DIRBS may lose network access, leaving users unable to make calls, send SMS, or use mobile data.
How to Check Device Status
Users can quickly verify the registration status of their handsets. Simply dial *#06# to retrieve the device’s IMEI number, then send it via SMS to 8484. Within seconds, users will receive a confirmation message regarding their device’s registration status.
Steps to Register Your Device
If a device shows as unregistered, PTA provides two easy options:
Dial *8484# directly from the handset to initiate the process.
Visit the official DIRBS portal at https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk to register online.
For imported devices, users may also need to pay any applicable Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) taxes before final registration is completed.
Keep Your Device Active
PTA has warned users not to delay the process. Timely registration ensures that mobile devices remain active and connected at all times. With DIRBS, the government also aims to curb the use of smuggled or duplicate phones in Pakistan, protecting consumers and the telecom industry alike.
To stay connected, avoid unnecessary service disruption, and continue using your handset without issues, users are strongly advised to check their IMEI today and complete the registration process.
