The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in partnership with Huawei, hosted the Next-Gen Cyber Resilience Workshop and Telecom Cyber Security Awards 2025, uniting senior officials, industry leaders, and cybersecurity experts to address pressing digital security issues in Pakistan’s evolving tech landscape.
A key focus of the workshop was the cybersecurity implications of Pakistan’s upcoming 5G rollout, which is expected to transform the country’s digital connectivity. Discussions also explored the security challenges surrounding Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Internet, the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the expanding FinTech sector.
The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing national cyber defenses through collaboration with local and global partners. Efforts will focus on building capacity, sharing knowledge, and adopting advanced security solutions to counter evolving digital threats.
Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, praised the PTA’s proactive initiatives, stating,
“Building a cyber-resilient Pakistan is not just a technological priority but a national imperative. The government is fully committed to supporting innovative solutions and robust security measures that safeguard our digital ecosystem.”
PTA Chairman, Maj. Gen. (R) Hafeezur Rehman, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing,
“Cyber resilience is the cornerstone of our digital future. PTA will continue fostering collaboration and innovation for a secure digital Pakistan.”
The event also celebrated achievements in the cybersecurity sector through the Telecom Cyber Security Awards 2025, recognizing excellence in innovation, resilience, and leadership. Award recipients were commended for their contributions to advancing Pakistan’s cybersecurity capabilities.
With Pakistan preparing for its 5G launch and embracing emerging technologies like AI and satellite internet, ensuring a secure and resilient digital environment has become a national priority.
