Islamabad, March 12, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted isolated thunderstorms accompanied by rain and wind in several districts of Punjab.
According to the weather report issued on Wednesday, some areas in the province are likely to witness thunderstorms in the coming hours.
For Wednesday night, the PMD predicts that Punjab will experience mostly dry and partly cloudy weather. However, rain-wind thunderstorms are expected at isolated locations, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sheikhupura. Additionally, areas such as Murree and Galliyat may experience partly cloudy weather with intermittent rain.
Looking ahead to Thursday, March 13, 2025, the weather across most districts of Punjab is expected to remain dry and partly cloudy. However, similar to Wednesday, thunderstorms and rain-wind activity are likely at isolated places, particularly in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sheikhupura. In the northern areas of Punjab, including Murree and Galliyat, cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall over higher altitudes is anticipated.
At the national level, the PMD has indicated that a shallow westerly wave is currently influencing the upper parts of the country, which may contribute to the thunderstorms expected in Punjab and other regions.
Wednesday’s Forecast: Most parts of the country are likely to experience dry and partly cloudy weather. However, rain-wind thunderstorms, with snowfall over high-altitude areas, are expected at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Punjab.
Thursday’s Forecast: The weather pattern is expected to remain consistent, with dry and partly cloudy conditions dominating most parts of the country. However, rain-wind thunderstorms are likely at isolated locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.
Weather in the Past 24 Hours: Over the past 24 hours, partly cloudy weather prevailed across most parts of the country. However, rain-wind thunderstorms occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region of Punjab.
With Punjab likely to experience thunderstorms over the coming days, residents in affected districts are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions against sudden weather changes.
