Islamabad, March 17, 2025 – The dry weather conditions in Punjab are expected to persist for the next 24 hours, according to the latest forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The prolonged dry spell has raised concerns among residents and farmers across various districts of Punjab.
The PMD stated that on Monday night, March 17, 2025, and Tuesday, March 18, 2025, dry weather will dominate most regions of Punjab, with colder temperatures expected in Murree, Galliyat, and surrounding areas. The prevailing continental air over most parts of the country continues to influence Punjab’s weather conditions, preventing any significant moisture influx.
Punjab has been witnessing an extended period of dry weather, affecting agriculture, water resources, and air quality. The lack of rainfall has led to concerns about soil moisture depletion and increasing pollution levels in urban centers. Farmers in Punjab have expressed worries over crop irrigation challenges as reservoirs and groundwater supplies remain under stress due to the persistent dry weather.
Nationally, the PMD predicts that the weather conditions on Monday will remain dry in most parts of the country, with colder temperatures prevailing in hilly areas. The forecast for Tuesday also indicates similar dry weather patterns across Punjab and other provinces, with cold conditions likely during morning and night hours in elevated regions.
The past 24 hours have seen dry weather persist in most parts of Punjab, mirroring conditions in other regions of the country. The PMD reported that temperatures remained low in the northern hilly areas, with Leh recording the lowest minimum temperature at -07°C, followed by Astore and Ziarat at -01°C, and Kalam and Parachinar at 01°C.
As Punjab continues to experience dry weather, experts recommend precautionary measures to mitigate potential impacts, particularly in agriculture and health sectors. Authorities have advised residents, especially those in rural areas, to manage water usage efficiently and monitor weather updates closely. The extended dry spell underscores the importance of climate adaptation strategies in Punjab to ensure sustainable water and crop management amidst fluctuating weather conditions.
