Punjab Faces Unstable Weather as Rains, Gusty Winds Persist

Islamabad, February 21, 2025 – Punjab weather remains turbulent as most districts continue to experience wet conditions coupled with strong gusty winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that these weather patterns are likely to persist over the next 24 hours, bringing more rainfall, thunderstorms, and occasional hailstorms.

According to the PMD, a prevailing westerly wave is affecting the upper and central regions of Pakistan, directly influencing Punjab weather. Under these conditions, various cities, including Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Mangla, Attock, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh, are expected to receive intermittent rain, gusty winds, and isolated heavy downpours on Thursday.

In Murree, Galiyat, and adjacent areas, cloudy conditions will persist with periods of rain, gusty winds, and even snowfall. Authorities have issued warnings about potential avalanches and landslides in these regions, advising tourists to exercise caution while traveling. Punjab weather in these hilly areas is expected to remain unpredictable, making travel hazardous.

Lahore, the provincial capital, will witness fluctuating temperatures with a minimum expected range of 13°C to 15°C on Friday and 14°C to 16°C on Saturday. Meanwhile, parts of Punjab, including Lahore, have already experienced varying intensities of rainfall in the past 24 hours, contributing to the unstable Punjab weather.

Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab, with temperatures dropping 1°C below freezing. The relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 82 percent. In Lahore, the minimum temperature stood at 13°C, with morning humidity reaching 89 percent.

As Punjab weather continues to exhibit unsettled patterns, residents are advised to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions against sudden changes in conditions.
