Punjab tops with 36.74% GST collection growth in FY26

Provincial GST collection rises to Rs774.78bn as Punjab records the strongest growth among Pakistan’s four provinces.

ISLAMABAD: Punjab recorded the highest growth in sales tax on services, commonly known as GST, among Pakistan’s provinces during fiscal year 2025-26, with collection rising 36.74% year-on-year, according to data released by the federal Ministry of Finance.

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) collected Rs361 billion in GST during FY2025-26, compared with Rs264 billion in the previous fiscal year.

The increase of Rs97 billion made Punjab the fastest-growing provincial revenue authority in terms of sales tax on services during the year.

Sindh GST collection rises 20.42%

The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) collected Rs342 billion in GST during FY2025-26, compared with Rs284 billion in FY2024-25.

This represented a 20.42% year-on-year increase in provincial sales tax collection.

Although Sindh recorded a lower growth rate than Punjab, its total GST collection remained close to Punjab’s level during the fiscal year.

KP records 21.56% growth

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) also reported a significant increase in GST collection.

KPRA collected Rs49.5 billion during FY2025-26, compared with Rs40.77 billion in the preceding fiscal year, representing a 21.56% increase.

The authority’s collection increased by approximately Rs8.73 billion during the year.

Balochistan reports decline

BRA’s collection fell by around 5% to Rs22.03 billion in FY2025-26, compared with Rs23.2 billion in the previous fiscal year.

The decline stood in contrast to the strong growth reported by Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Punjab leads provincial revenue growth

The latest figures show a strong improvement in provincial sales tax collection during FY2025-26, led by Punjab.

Punjab’s 36.74% growth was significantly higher than the increases recorded by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, while Balochistan experienced a contraction.

The overall rise in provincial GST collection points to stronger revenue mobilisation and continued efforts by provincial authorities to improve compliance and broaden the tax base in the services sector.
