Punjab Imposes Ban on Temporary Swings During Eid Holidays

Authorities in Punjab have announced a strict ban on temporary mechanical swings during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, citing public safety concerns.

With large crowds expected to gather at recreational spots across the province, the Punjab government aims to prevent potential accidents and ensure a secure environment for families and children celebrating the festive season.

The Punjab Home Department confirmed that the decision was made in the interest of public safety, as temporary swings often lack the necessary safety mechanisms. A directive has been issued to all deputy commissioners across Punjab, instructing them to enforce the ban effectively during the holidays.

“Temporary mechanical swings pose a significant risk, particularly during the festive rush. This precautionary measure ensures the safety of the public during the Eid holidays,” a spokesperson from the Punjab Home Department stated.

Despite the ban on temporary setups, amusement parks, theme parks, and play areas featuring permanently installed mechanical swings will be allowed to operate, provided they meet strict safety regulations. Authorities have mandated that all permanent rides obtain updated fitness certificates, verified by district commissioners, to confirm compliance with regulatory standards before being permitted to function during the holidays.

To oversee the enforcement of this regulation, a central control room has been established at the Punjab Home Department. The control room will operate 24/7 throughout the Eid holidays, ensuring continuous monitoring of compliance. Senior officials will be on high alert to supervise security and regulatory implementation, ensuring a smooth and safe holiday experience for all citizens.

The Punjab government’s decision reflects a proactive approach to public safety, reinforcing the importance of stringent safety measures during the holidays. As families and children venture out to enjoy Eid festivities, ensuring their well-being remains a top priority for the provincial administration. By imposing strict safety regulations on mechanical swings, Punjab authorities aim to prevent accidents and create a secure environment for all those celebrating the joyous occasion.
