Punjab Prepares for Widespread Rainfall Across Multiple Districts

Pakistan Weather

Islamabad, February 17, 2025 – The province of Punjab is gearing up for widespread rainfall across various districts, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather advisory indicates that starting February 18, 2025, multiple regions across Punjab will experience rainfall, marking a shift from the prolonged dry spell.

According to the PMD, Monday, February 17, will remain predominantly dry across Punjab, with humidity levels fluctuating between 31% and 35%. However, by Tuesday, February 18, a new weather system is expected to move into the region, bringing much-needed rainfall to cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and several other districts within Punjab.

This rain-bearing system is anticipated to persist until February 20, potentially alleviating the dry conditions and improving air quality across the province. The PMD has highlighted that this change in weather is likely to reduce pollutants, particularly in urban centers where air quality has recently deteriorated. For instance, Islamabad’s air pollution index was recorded at 152, indicating a moderately unhealthy level.

Residents across Punjab, particularly in urban districts, have been advised to take precautionary measures, especially individuals prone to allergies. The pollen count in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi is expected to remain elevated during this period due to increased humidity and rainfall.

In Lahore, Punjab’s capital, the PMD predicts mostly cloudy conditions with intermittent periods of sunshine. While there is a 10% chance of rain in the city, temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 10°C to a maximum of 25°C. The rainfall will not only provide relief from the prevailing dry weather but also contribute to improving the city’s air quality.

Hill stations in Punjab, such as Murree and Galyat, are forecasted to receive light rain accompanied by sporadic snowfall. These weather changes could attract tourists seeking to experience winter conditions before the season ends.

Overall, the PMD has advised residents across Punjab to stay updated with weather reports and prepare for possible disruptions. While rainfall is expected to benefit agriculture and air quality, citizens are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling during this period.
