The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has reported a remarkable tax collection of over Rs220 billion during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (8MFY26), marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year.

The latest figures show a rise of more than Rs63 billion from Rs156.3 billion collected during the first eight months of the previous fiscal year, reflecting stronger compliance and improved revenue strategies. This progress was highlighted during a review meeting on Friday, where monthly tax revenue targets were assessed and regional office performances were evaluated.

PRA Chairperson Moazzam Iqbal Sipra presided over the meeting and lauded the efforts of key officials. He particularly appreciated the contributions of Commissioner PRA Lahore, Muhammad Asif, for consistently achieving monthly revenue targets, as well as Commissioner PRA Faisalabad, Aftab Ahmad, for efforts to boost tax collection in the region.

Sipra emphasized that the establishment of new tax sectors has been a major factor in the improved revenue collection. He also announced that additional administrative reforms will be implemented to ensure that Punjab achieves its largest-ever tax collection target in history.

The PRA’s performance reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the provincial taxation system, improve compliance, and support the government’s broader fiscal objectives, contributing to Punjab’s economic growth and financial stability.
