Islamabad, April 7, 2025 — The weather across Punjab is expected to remain predominantly hot and dry over the next 24 hours, with only select northern areas of the region likely to experience a brief spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
According to the latest forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the southern and central parts of Punjab will see temperatures rising 2 to 4°C above the seasonal average.
Most districts in Punjab are currently under the influence of continental air, which is keeping the weather conditions dry and warm. However, a westerly wave is forecasted to enter the upper regions of the country later tonight, which could bring a shift in weather patterns, especially for areas in and around Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat.
For Tuesday, April 8, 2025, PMD predicts partly cloudy skies with chances of rain and wind-thunderstorms in Kashmir and the adjoining hilly areas of Murree and Galliyat. Although these regions fall outside the core of Punjab, their changing weather conditions may also have a slight impact on upper Punjab districts, potentially leading to slightly cooler evenings.
Despite the potential rain in the northern areas, most of Punjab will continue to experience dry and hot weather. In urban centers like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, the sun is expected to dominate the skies, pushing daytime temperatures above average. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, especially in the afternoon.
The PMD further added that there is no significant weather system expected to influence most parts of Punjab in the coming days. However, the arrival of the westerly wave could bring short-term relief to those in the higher altitudes and neighboring regions.
Punjab weather, particularly during early April, is known for sudden fluctuations due to transitioning seasons. While most of the province braces for heat, the scenic hill stations like Murree and Galliyat might offer a brief escape with their cooler, rain-kissed breezes.
As always, the public is advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts, especially those planning to travel toward the northern areas of Punjab or into Kashmir over the next 48 hours.
