LAHORE – The weather in Punjab is expected to remain partly cloudy on Monday, July 14, 2025, with a strong chance of thundershowers and windstorms in multiple areas across the province, according to the latest advisory from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD forecasts partly cloudy weather in Punjab throughout the day, with rain-windstorm/thundershowers likely during the evening and night in several cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G. Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan. Isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong winds are expected in the Potohar region, northeastern Punjab, and adjoining areas.
On Sunday night, hot and humid weather in Punjab was reported in most districts. However, scattered thundershowers were observed in Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and other central and southern regions of the province.
The PMD has issued a national weather warning highlighting the risk of flash floods due to heavy to very heavy rains in vulnerable zones, particularly in Murree, Galiyat, and northeastern Punjab. Hill torrents in D.G. Khan and surrounding areas may also swell due to intense downpours. Additionally, urban flooding is a serious concern for low-lying areas in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Faisalabad.
The public has been strongly advised to remain cautious as windstorms may damage unstable structures, including electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels.
According to the PMD’s synoptic situation, monsoon currents are currently penetrating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, while a strong westerly wave is expected to affect the upper and central parts of the country. This interaction will result in increased rainfall activity across much of Punjab in the coming days.
In the past 24 hours, rain and thunderstorms were recorded in several areas of Upper and Central Punjab. Murree received 22 mm of rainfall, Gujranwala 12 mm, and Sialkot Airport 5 mm, while other parts of the province experienced hot and humid conditions.
The overall Punjab weather outlook for Monday suggests more rainfall in the evening and night, with potential disruptions in daily routines.
