Islamabad, January 7, 2026 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory for Punjab, forecasting cold and dry conditions across most districts, with very cold weather expected to persist in Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining hilly areas over the next 48 hours.
According to the PMD, weather on Wednesday is likely to remain cold and dry throughout the province. Extremely cold conditions are anticipated in Murree, Galiyat, and nearby regions. In addition, moderate to dense fog is expected to continue affecting large parts of Punjab, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and surrounding areas.
A similar weather pattern is forecast for Thursday, with cold and dry conditions prevailing across most districts. Very cold temperatures are again expected in Murree and Galiyat, while fog may persist in central and southern Punjab, potentially affecting visibility during morning and night hours.
At the national level, the PMD said continental air is dominating most parts of the country. Cold and dry weather is expected nationwide, with very cold conditions in hilly regions. Moderate to dense fog is also likely over Punjab, upper Sindh, and plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Frost may occur at isolated locations in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during early morning hours.
During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most of the country, with very low temperatures recorded in northern areas. No rainfall was reported.
