Doha, July 22, 2025 – In a gripping contest at West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Qatar emerged victorious in the third T20I against Saudi Arabia, securing a four-wicket win and taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series.

Saudi Arabia, batting first, posted a competitive total of 169 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Waji Ul Hassan led the charge with a composed 57 off 46 balls, while Manan Ali contributed 49 runs and Faisal Khan chipped in with 32. Their top-order partnership laid a solid foundation, putting Qatar under pressure early in the match.

Qatar’s bowling unit responded with sharp spells, particularly from Mirza Mohammad Baig and Daniel Louis, who each grabbed three wickets. Their disciplined bowling in the latter half of the innings curtailed Saudi Arabia’s scoring and proved vital in keeping the target within reach.

In reply, Qatar’s batting lineup initially struggled. By the 13th over, the hosts had collapsed to 95/6, appearing to be in deep trouble. However, the game turned dramatically thanks to a brilliant 78-run partnership between captain Mirza Mohammad Baig and wicketkeeper-batter Shahzaib Ahmed. Their calm yet aggressive approach under pressure revived Qatar’s T20I campaign. Baig scored a crucial 47 runs, while Shahzaib added a steady 37, guiding the team to the target with just four balls to spare.

Despite the loss, Saudi Arabia’s bowlers fought hard, with Ishtiaq Ahmad and Zian Ul Abidin claiming two wickets apiece and keeping the contest alive till the final overs.

With this win, Qatar now leads the five-match T20I series 2-1. The momentum shift could prove decisive as the two sides prepare for the fourth T20I, scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, at the same venue. Cricket fans in Doha and beyond are eagerly anticipating whether Qatar will seal the series or if Saudi Arabia will bounce back to force a decider in the final T20I clash.

The thrilling performances so far underscore the rising competitiveness and talent in Gulf cricket, with Qatar firmly establishing itself as a strong contender in this T20I series.
