Quetta, December 27, 2025 – In a strong move against illicit trade, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta has successfully conducted a series of anti-smuggling operations, resulting in the seizure of contraband goods valued at an estimated Rs317 million.

These efforts underline the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) commitment to curbing smuggling and protecting Pakistan’s national economy.

In a detailed intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out in collaboration with Quetta Police, Customs officials confiscated 508 cartons, totaling 25,400 sticks, of branded smuggled cigarettes. The assessed market value of the seized cigarettes alone stands at Rs200 million. The operation was conducted after meticulous surveillance, tracking, and verification, following all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure lawful enforcement.

In addition to the cigarette seizure, separate coordinated operations led to the confiscation of a significant number of smuggled mobile phones and 13 Non-Custom-Paid (NCP) vehicles, with a combined estimated value of Rs117 million. These items were recovered from various locations across the region, reflecting the Customs Enforcement’s proactive approach in targeting smuggling networks and intercepting contraband before it reaches the market.

All confiscated goods have been taken into official custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the Customs Act, 1969.

The FBR has reiterated its determination to eliminate smuggling and illicit trade across Pakistan. Officials emphasized that continued vigilance, intelligence-sharing, and inter-agency cooperation are key to safeguarding the economy, ensuring fair market practices, and protecting revenue streams.
