Quetta, January 4, 2026 – In a major crackdown on illegal trade, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the District Administration Kalat, successfully confiscated smuggled goods valued at approximately Rs251.325 million. The operation highlights the continued efforts of Pakistani authorities to combat smuggling and protect the national economy.

According to an official release on Saturday, the seized contraband primarily included foreign-origin betel nuts and cloth that were being transported in violation of customs laws. The total tentative cost, including insurance and freight, of the recovered goods has been assessed at Rs251.325 million. The operation was executed following credible intelligence reports, which allowed authorities to intercept the illegal consignments before they could enter the market.

Customs officials emphasized that the success of this operation was made possible through the effective coordination between the Customs Enforcement Quetta team and various law enforcement agencies in Balochistan. Timely support from local authorities in Kalat played a pivotal role in ensuring the operation was executed efficiently and without incident.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reaffirmed its commitment to taking strict actions against smuggling, illicit trade, and corrupt practices. Officials stated that such intelligence-based operations are part of an ongoing strategy to safeguard domestic industries, protect revenue collection, and strengthen border security.

This seizure serves as a strong message to smugglers and illegal traders that enforcement agencies remain vigilant and proactive. Authorities have pledged to continue these operations across Balochistan and other regions to curb the flow of illegal goods, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and the protection of Pakistan’s economic interests.
