Quetta Gladiators storm into PSL 10 final, beat Islamabad United

The Quetta Gladiators have secured their place in the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 with a commanding 30-run victory over Islamabad United in a high-stakes playoff match on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Quetta Gladiators set a formidable total of 209 runs for the loss of six wickets. The star performer with the bat was Dinesh Chandimal, who remained unbeaten with a fiery knock of 48 runs off just 28 balls. Supporting him were Faheem Ashraf, who scored a quick 45, and Finn Allen, who added a solid 41 runs to the scoreboard.

Islamabad United’s bowling unit faced a tough challenge against the Gladiators’ aggressive batting lineup. Ben Dwarshuis and Salman Irshad managed to take two wickets each, while skipper Shadab Khan chipped in with one.

In reply, Islamabad United struggled to chase down the target of 210 and were bowled out for 179 runs with just two balls remaining. Sahibzada Farhan showed resistance with a well-played 52 off 35 balls. Salman Ali Agha and Rassie van der Dussen also tried to keep hopes alive with contributions of 44 and 35 runs respectively.

However, Quetta Gladiators’ bowling attack proved too strong. Usman Tariq emerged as the pick of the bowlers with brilliant figures of 3 for 22 in four overs. He was well supported by Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf, who claimed two wickets each to dismantle Islamabad’s batting order.

This impressive all-round performance marks the Quetta Gladiators’ fifth appearance in a PSL final. The franchise has shown great form throughout the tournament and now stands just one step away from clinching another title. With momentum on their side, Quetta Gladiators will enter the final with high confidence, aiming to add another PSL trophy to their name.

Islamabad United has still one chance left to reach final by winning eliminator match.
