Islamabad, January 24, 2024 – Pakistan’s picturesque tourist destinations are gearing up for a scenic transformation as rain and snowfall are predicted from Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued forecasts indicating partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with light rain or snow in various regions, extending until Sunday.

According to the PMD, tourist hotspots such as Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Kaghan, Naran, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Saidu Sharif, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Murree, and Galliyat are expected to experience weather patterns conducive to snowfall or rain during this period. Meanwhile, Ziarat and surrounding areas are anticipated to witness very cold and dry weather, with partly cloudy conditions on Thursday.

The PMD has also issued a warning regarding dense fog persisting in Islamabad, the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh. Due to consistently low daytime temperatures, very cold weather is expected in fog-affected regions, and citizens are advised to exercise extra caution.

The synoptic situation, as described by the PMD, indicates that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. The weather forecast for Thursday, January 25, 2024, anticipates very cold and dry conditions in most areas, with partly cloudy weather in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. Dense fog or smog is likely to persist in specific regions, contributing to very cold weather due to the fog.

Dense fog or smog affected Islamabad, the Pothohar region, plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during this period.

The recorded lowest minimum temperatures during this period include Leh at -12°C, Skardu at -10°C, Kalam, Gilgit, and Astore at -07°C, Kalat, Gupis, and Srinagar at -05°C, Chitral, Mirkhani at -04°C, Bunji, Dir, Hunza, Parachinar, Rawalakot, and Quetta at -03°C.
