Islamabad, September 18, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by windstorms and thundershowers in Islamabad over the next two days, raising the likelihood of localized heavy falls and possible hailstorms.
The weather advisory, issued Thursday, highlights that Islamabad may witness unsettled conditions both during the evening and night on September 18, with probabilities standing at around 55 percent.
On Friday, September 19, the PMD expects partly cloudy weather in the capital, with morning showers and thunderstorms likely to bring temporary relief from the prevailing hot and dry spell. The chance of rainfall for that day has been estimated at 60 percent, with warnings of hailstorms in isolated pockets.
At the national level, the PMD cautioned that windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning could pose risks to weak structures such as rooftops of Kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels. Citizens in Islamabad, particularly travellers and tourists, are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the latest updates.
Meteorologists reported that weak moist currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating the northern parts of the country, while a westerly wave remains active over upper regions. This system is expected to persist for the next 24 hours.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather dominated most areas, though Islamabad’s Saidpur recorded 17 mm of rainfall. The highest temperature nationwide was reported in Turbat at 42°C.
