Islamabad – June 3, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in Islamabad on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
According to the PMD’s latest weather advisory issued on Tuesday, residents of the capital should prepare for possible rain, wind, and thundershowers in the afternoon and evening hours.
On Tuesday, Islamabad experienced hot and dry weather during the daytime. However, conditions are expected to shift slightly, with a 60% probability of rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunder in the afternoon. The PMD indicated that similar weather is expected on Wednesday, though the chance of rain is slightly lower at 45%. Partly cloudy skies and hot conditions will likely dominate the day until the weather changes later.
The PMD also issued a nationwide alert warning of potential weather-related damage. Windstorms, dust storms, hailstorms, and heavy rainfall could affect various parts of the country, including Islamabad, with possible damage to electric poles, solar panels, trees, and vehicles. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions, especially in areas where structures may be vulnerable.
The current weather system influencing the region is attributed to a shallow westerly wave affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. In addition, moist currents are entering the northeastern regions, increasing the likelihood of localized rain in Islamabad, Upper Punjab, and neighboring areas.
On a broader scale, hot and dry weather continues to dominate most regions of the country. Extremely high temperatures have been recorded in plain areas, with cities like Sibbi, Jacobabad, and Dadu registering temperatures as high as 48°C, 47°C, and 46°C respectively.
In the past 24 hours, scattered rain and thunderstorms were reported in parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Punjab. Notable rainfall included 14mm in Muzaffarabad and Garhi Dupatta, while Gilgit and Astore also saw light showers.
While Islamabad braces for the possibility of rain, citizens are encouraged to stay updated with PMD alerts and take safety measures during thunderstorms or high winds. The changing weather pattern is expected to offer some relief from the prevailing heat, but it may also bring temporary disruptions.
