Realme has officially revealed key camera details for its upcoming Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ smartphones ahead of their January 6 launch.
The brand is placing a strong emphasis on mobile photography this year, with both models featuring a massive 200MP primary camera designed to deliver flagship-level imaging performance.
According to Realme, the 200MP main camera on both devices is based on Samsung’s HP5 sensor, a 1/1.56-inch unit with an f/1.8 aperture. This sensor supports full-pixel auto zoom along with 1x and 2x lossless zoom, allowing users to capture highly detailed images without sacrificing clarity. The camera system is designed to perform well across various shooting scenarios, including portraits, street photography, and everyday snapshots.
The Realme 16 Pro+ takes things a step further by adding a dedicated telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. This telephoto lens uses Samsung’s JN5 sensor and, combined with the main and ultrawide cameras, enables what Realme calls a “full focal-length imaging system.” On the Pro+ model, users can shoot from 0.6x ultrawide all the way up to 120x digital zoom, offering flexibility for both close-up and long-range photography.
Realme has also confirmed that the 16 Pro+ will debut its new LumaColor Image processing technology. This advanced algorithm focuses on full-dimensional skin tone optimization, optical depth-of-field fusion blur, and improved lighting and shadow reconstruction. The goal is to produce photos with more realistic colors, better texture, and enhanced depth, particularly in portrait shots.
In addition, the company is introducing several new camera algorithms, including HyperRAW, InstantSnap, and Anti-Distortion processing. These features aim to deliver sharper details, more stable dynamic shots, and reduced edge distortion across all focal lengths.
On the video front, the Realme 16 Pro+ supports 4K HDR recording at multiple zoom levels, including 1x, 2x, 3.5x, and 7x. It also offers dual-focal 4K 60fps recording at 1x and 3.5x, while the front-facing camera can record 4K video at 60fps.
With bold camera claims and impressive specifications, the Realme 16 Pro series is shaping up to be a strong contender in the premium mid-range segment. A full review will ultimately reveal how these features perform in real-world use.
