Pop icon Rihanna made headlines at the world premiere of the upcoming Smurfs movie in Brussels on June 28, not just for her striking appearance but also for her candid musical confession.
Dressed in a baby blue Chanel outfit that matched the Smurfs theme, the 37-year-old singer, actress, and producer attended the blue carpet event alongside her partner A$AP Rocky.
While speaking to Capital FM UK during the premiere, Rihanna revealed her current favourite song—Burning Blue by Mariah the Scientist. The track, released in May 2025, is the lead single from the R&B artist’s upcoming fourth studio album.
The song, which also debuted its music video on May 8, climbed to No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rihanna hinted that the song may have influenced her latest work, possibly tying into her role as Smurfette in the animated film.
Rihanna has taken on a multi-faceted role for the film, not only voicing Smurfette but also serving as a producer and contributing to the soundtrack. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she opened up about her creative process and praised director Chris Miller for his collaborative approach.
“He was very open to my ideas and allowed me the freedom to revisit scenes and rework musical elements,” Rihanna shared. She emphasized the creative flexibility she was granted while shaping the movie’s music, suggesting a strong personal connection to the project.
Adding to the buzz at the event, A$AP Rocky may have subtly revealed the gender of their upcoming baby. When asked by ET whether the child was “the girl you’ve been waiting for,” he responded, “It is, man, it is,” hinting the couple might be expecting a baby girl.
With her dual role in the Smurfs reboot and new music involvement, Rihanna continues to blend her music and film careers, creating anticipation for the movie’s official release and soundtrack.
