The actor, best known as Walter White Jr. in the hit AMC drama, hinted that the White family’s story could still have more chapters in what became his final interview.

RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in Breaking Bad, was still reflecting on the future of the acclaimed series just days before his death at the age of 34.

Mitte died in Brownsville, Texas. Police said officers found him dead at his home after arriving at around 12:50pm. An investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not announced a cause of death.

His representative confirmed the news on Monday, October 12, saying: “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.”

In a podcast conversation with Joe Vulpis, released on October 7, Mitte suggested that the conclusion of Breaking Bad did not necessarily mark the end of the White family’s story.

“I don’t think it was an end; I think it was really the end of Heisenberg’s journey,” he said.

“But I don’t think that was the end of Skyler and Walt and Holly’s journey. You know I think there’s a lot of unanswered questions there, that for them will probably never be answered.”

He went on to suggest that the family’s story still had room to develop, saying: “I think there’s still a big step for the White family.”

“There’s always more to be told. But you got to tell it right,” Mitte added.

The actor also acknowledged the difficulty of matching the extraordinary success of the series, which became one of television’s most celebrated dramas.

“I just want to top Breaking Bad, that’s the hardest,” he said. “Look, it’s a long way down from the top of the mountain.”

Mitte appeared throughout all five seasons of the AMC series, portraying the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. His character, who has cerebral palsy, reflected Mitte’s own experience of living with the condition.

Beyond his acting career, Mitte was a passionate disability rights advocate who worked to promote inclusion and better representation for people with disabilities.

His representative highlighted his involvement with United Cerebral Palsy, Shriners Children’s and The Mitte Foundation, praising his dedication to advocacy and philanthropy.

Although Mitte’s death has left fans mourning the loss of a familiar face from Breaking Bad, his final interview offered a glimpse of his continued connection to the series and his belief that its characters could still have more stories to tell.

His legacy extends beyond his role in the hit drama to include his efforts to raise awareness of disability rights and encourage greater representation on screen.
