Actor says he trained daily for The Batman and is already preparing physically for the sequel’s demanding production schedule.
Robert Pattinson has pushed back against long-running criticism surrounding his physical preparation for The Batman, saying he trained extensively for the role despite public claims that he neglected fitness while portraying Gotham’s iconic vigilante.
Speaking in a recent interview with GQ magazine while promoting his upcoming film The Odyssey, Pattinson said public perception of his workout routine was largely shaped by comments he made jokingly during earlier promotional interviews.
“Everyone was like, ‘You didn’t work out at all.’ I worked out every day,” Pattinson said, adding that his training often involved two sessions a day and occasionally began as early as three o’clock in the morning.
The actor acknowledged that he had previously downplayed the importance of exercise during interviews, describing those remarks as an attempt to appear relaxed rather than an accurate reflection of his preparation.
“I was trying to sound cool,” he said, explaining that the comments were never intended to suggest he had avoided physical training for the demanding role.
Preparing for ‘The Batman: Part II’
Pattinson is set to return as Bruce Wayne in The Batman Part II, the highly anticipated sequel directed by Matt Reeves.
According to the actor, preparations for the production are already underway, including the installation of a home gym to support the intensive training required for the next chapter of the franchise.
The sequel will continue the darker and more grounded interpretation of Batman introduced in the 2022 film, which achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim worldwide.
Lengthy Night Shoots Expected
Pattinson also revealed that details about the production remain closely guarded. He said he recently learned from a stunt coordinator that filming could involve approximately 11 weeks of night shoots, despite not yet receiving a formal production schedule.
The comments underscore the level of secrecy often associated with major Hollywood productions, particularly high-profile superhero franchises.
Star-Studded Cast Generates Buzz
Anticipation for the sequel has continued to build amid reports that actors Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson could be involved in the project.
Director Matt Reeves recently heightened fan excitement by sharing an image showing the Batmobile parked on a snow-covered street, offering an early glimpse of the sequel’s visual tone.
With production preparations accelerating, Pattinson appears determined to dispel lingering doubts about his commitment to the physical demands of portraying the Caped Crusader as work on The Batman: Part II moves forward.
