The official unveiling of the Rolls-Royce Amethyst Droptail took place during an exclusive event in Gstaad, Switzerland – a location of special significance to the patron – where they were joined by close family members and friends to celebrate this extraordinary creation.

Meticulously designed in the digital realm and crafted from a lightweight composite, this intricate piece incorporates an astounding 202 hand-polished stainless-steel ingots. Completing the front visage, the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine takes center stage, encircled by amethyst cabochons. The cabochon technique, which involves shaping and polishing gemstones into rounded forms rather than faceted cuts, was deliberately chosen by the client to evoke a restrained elegance, sidestepping overt brilliance. This nuanced touch harks back to the client’s early involvement in the precious gemstone trade, encapsulating a profound legacy within this bespoke creation.
Transformative Design of the Rolls-Royce Droptail’s Removable Hard Top:
Crafted to bestow the Rolls-Royce Droptail with a versatile duality, a removable hard top has been ingeniously devised. The Droptail seamlessly morphs between two distinct personas: as a sleek, open-top roadster when the roof is off, and as a commanding and theatrical coupé when the roof is in place.
The roof’s innovation extends further through the integration of electrochromic glass, granting it the remarkable ability to instantly alter its color and transparency. The client presented a unique challenge to Coachbuild designers: to engineer a glass surface capable of harmonizing with the Amethyst Droptail’s color scheme.
Responding to this demand, the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective conceived a truly exceptional chameleon effect for the electrochromic glass. When in its inactive state, the glass boasts complete opacity with a delicate purple undertone, mirroring the exterior’s Amethyst shade. Upon activation, a simple press of a button transforms the glass into a translucent state, aligning its hue with the Sand Dunes leather interior.
This stunning accomplishment entailed specialists undertaking an exhaustive 60 iterations of glass coloring experiments, culminating in a flawless match.
