Actress Rose Byrne has finally clarified the reason behind her partner Bobby Cannavale’s surprising absence at last month’s Golden Globes. Byrne, who won her first Golden Globe for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, revealed during her acceptance speech that Cannavale missed the ceremony to attend a reptile expo in New Jersey to buy a bearded dragon.
Byrne Clarifies the Story
Byrne told The New York Times that her comments were not intended to make Cannavale appear obsessed with reptiles. “Never in my life will I announce something like that on a major awards show again,” she said. She emphasized that the bearded dragon was a gift for their two children, not for Cannavale himself.
Previously on The Tonight Show, Byrne joked that missing the expo would be “such a parent fail,” as the family had promised the pet to their sons.
New Family Member Settled In
Speaking to Extra, Byrne confirmed that the family’s newest member is settling in well. “We’ve got the guy. He’s really cute, and it’s going well,” she said.
Byrne and Cannavale, together since 2012, share two children and often refer to each other as spouses, despite never officially marrying. Their playful dynamic and family-first approach have been highlighted in interviews and appearances over the years, showing their unique approach to family life in Hollywood.
