Acclaimed actress Rose Byrne has opened up about how she relaxes after long and emotionally draining days on film sets, revealing a refreshingly simple approach to unwinding.

The 46-year-old star is currently earning praise for her performance in the psychological comedy-drama If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, a role that recently earned her major awards attention. In the film, Byrne portrays a mother navigating deep personal struggles, a character that demands emotional intensity and focus throughout production.

Speaking candidly about the pressures of such demanding roles, Byrne admitted that her post-filming routine is uncomplicated. “I drink a lot of alcohol,” she said honestly. “Sometimes it’s as simple as having a cocktail after a long day on set or switching on the TV.”

The Platonic actress also shared that she doesn’t follow any strict wellness or spiritual routines. Instead, she prioritizes a calm and grounded family life. Byrne lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Bobby Cannavale, and the couple now prefers a quieter, more private lifestyle away from Hollywood’s constant spotlight.

She added that her close-knit family and local community play a vital role in helping her stay balanced. Her two sons, Rocco and Rafael, keep her grounded and offer a refreshing sense of normalcy. “My children couldn’t care less if I’ve had a long day — but in the best and most refreshing way,” Byrne said.

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, written and directed by Mary Bronstein, also stars Conan O’Brien as Byrne’s on-screen therapist. The film is being praised for its emotional depth and dark comedic tone, further cementing Byrne’s reputation as a versatile performer.
