RTA Imposes Rs 18,500 Fine on LPG-Fitted Vehicles

The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in Faisalabad imposed stringent fines on vehicles equipped with LPG cylinders. RTA officials levied fines amounting to Rs 18,500 on these vehicles, highlighting the risks associated with unauthorized or unsafe LPG fittings.

In addition to targeting LPG-fitted vehicles, the RTA also cracked down on other significant violations. Vehicles emitting excessive smoke, which contribute heavily to air pollution and pose a health hazard, were fined Rs 16,000. This action reflects the RTA’s commitment to combating environmental pollution and ensuring cleaner air for the city’s residents.

The authority also took a firm stance against transporters who were found overcharging passengers. A total fine of Rs 13,000 was imposed on those guilty of exploiting passengers by charging above the regulated fares. This move underscores the RTA’s dedication to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair practices in public transportation.

Unfit vehicles, often considered a major cause of road accidents due to their compromised safety standards, were also on the RTA’s radar.

The authority fined these vehicles Rs 22,000, emphasizing the need for regular maintenance and adherence to fitness standards. Additionally, violations related to axle load management, a critical factor in preventing road damage and accidents, resulted in fines of Rs 34,000.

The enforcement teams were highly active throughout the operation. A total of 191 vehicles were inspected on various roads across Faisalabad.

Out of these, 104 vehicles were issued challans for various violations, demonstrating the widespread nature of non-compliance. Moreover, 77 vehicles were impounded for failing to meet regulatory requirements, and 21 others were sent to designated fitness centers to obtain the necessary fitness certificates.

This ongoing operation by the RTA reflects a broader strategy to enhance road safety and ensure that all vehicles on the road meet strict safety and environmental standards. The RTA has made it clear that these efforts will continue, with further inspections and enforcement actions planned in the near future.
