Karachi, May 3, 2025 — The Regional Tax Office (RTO)-I Karachi has taken a new step to fight corruption by launching a dedicated WhatsApp number for public complaints against tax officers and staff.
According to an office order issued on Saturday, the RTO I Karachi, an important revenue collection arm of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has introduced WhatsApp number 0330-9992448 to receive complaints directly from the public. The move is aimed at curbing issues like bribery, misuse of authority, and other corrupt activities within the department.
The RTO has encouraged people to report any suspicious behavior or wrongdoing by tax officials through this WhatsApp number. Complaints should be detailed, and if possible, include any evidence such as audio clips, videos, or documents to support the claims.
The RTO assured that the identity of those who send complaints through WhatsApp will be kept completely confidential. No complainant’s personal information will be shared during the process of investigation.
Every complaint received on WhatsApp will be carefully examined. If it is found to be genuine, action will be taken after proper investigation. The RTO says this initiative will help build a cleaner and more transparent tax system.
“This effort is part of our commitment to promote honesty and accountability in tax operations,” the RTO stated in the official message. “We want to create an environment where people can report corruption freely and safely.”
By introducing the WhatsApp complaint system, the RTO hopes to give citizens an easy and direct way to raise their voices against corruption without fear.
The new WhatsApp service reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to bring reforms and improve trust between taxpayers and the tax department. People are advised to use this platform responsibly and provide as much detail as possible when reporting an issue.
For now, the RTO will continue to monitor all messages and work toward addressing concerns as quickly and fairly as possible.
