Karachi, January 5, 2026 — The Regional Tax Office (RTO)-II, Karachi, in collaboration with Inland Revenue Intelligence and Investigation (I&I), has confiscated 1,800 bags of sugar after intercepting trucks carrying counterfeit Track and Trace System (TTS) stamps during a major enforcement operation.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, the action was carried out at the Sassi Toll Plaza on the National Highway, where three trucks transporting sugar were stopped and inspected. During the inspection, authorities detected fake TTS stamps on the consignments, raising serious concerns over tax evasion and illegal movement of essential commodities. The seized sugar was reportedly sourced from Chambar Sugar Mills.

The detained vehicles include trucks bearing registration numbers TKA-042, SDA-899, and AE-1488. Upon confirmation of counterfeit tracking stamps, the enforcement teams immediately detained the trucks and shifted them to the NIPA premises of RTO-II, Karachi for further scrutiny.

Officials stated that the interception is part of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing drive to strengthen the Track and Trace regime, which aims to ensure transparency in supply chains, curb tax evasion, and discourage illicit trade in essential goods such as sugar. The Track and Trace System is a key compliance tool designed to monitor production, transportation, and sale of taxable commodities.

Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to identify those responsible for affixing fake TTS stamps and facilitating the illegal transportation. Further legal proceedings will be conducted under the relevant laws and regulations, and strict action is expected against all individuals and entities found involved.

The RTO reiterated its commitment to intensifying enforcement actions to protect government revenue and ensure fair market practices across Pakistan.
