Pakistan captain wins Player of the Series after scoring three consecutive half-centuries and surpassing Abhishek Sharma’s record in a three-match bilateral T20I series between full-member nations.
Pakistan T20I captain Sahibzada Farhan has created a new batting record after finishing the three-match series against Sri Lanka with 238 runs, surpassing India’s Abhishek Sharma to become the highest run-scorer in a three-match bilateral T20I series between two full-member nations.
Farhan was also named Player of the Series following an outstanding performance throughout the contest. Playing his first home series as Pakistan’s full-time T20I captain, the right-handed batter delivered three consecutive half-centuries to establish his dominance against the Sri Lankan bowling attack.
The 30-year-old accumulated 238 runs at an average of 79.33 and an impressive strike rate of 165.27. His consistent performances helped Pakistan secure the series, although Sri Lanka managed to claim victory in the final match.
Farhan Surpasses Abhishek Sharma’s Record
Before Farhan’s achievement, India’s Abhishek Sharma held the record for the most runs in a three-match bilateral T20I series involving full-member teams. The Indian opener scored 229 runs at an average of 76.33 against Afghanistan earlier in 2026, including a century and a half-century.
Farhan moved ahead of Sharma with his aggregate of 238 runs, while New Zealand’s Colin Munro remains third on the list with 223 runs against the West Indies in the 2017-18 series. Australia’s David Warner follows with 217 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019.
Three Consecutive Half-Centuries
Farhan began the series with a match-winning innings of 89 from 53 deliveries, including 10 boundaries and four sixes. His contribution helped Pakistan chase a target of 183 runs and secure a four-wicket victory.
In the second T20I, the Pakistan captain scored 73 off 44 balls, helping the hosts post a commanding total of 215/3. Sri Lanka managed only 133/7 in response, handing Pakistan a decisive win and the series victory.
Farhan maintained his consistency in the third match, scoring 76 from 47 deliveries to guide Pakistan towards another competitive total. However, Sri Lanka successfully chased the target to register a consolation victory.
Despite the final-match defeat, Farhan’s record-breaking aggregate and consistent batting made him the standout performer of the series, further strengthening his position as a key figure in Pakistan’s T20I setup.
