Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026 following a sensational run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 held in Sri Lanka.
Farhan emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament, smashing 383 runs in seven matches at an impressive average of 76.60. His remarkable campaign included two centuries and two half-centuries, highlighting his dominance in the shortest format of the game.
The 29-year-old right-hander delivered a historic performance, scoring at a blistering strike rate of 160.25. In the process, he surpassed Virat Kohli’s longstanding record for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. Farhan also became the first batter to score two centuries in one global T20 tournament, achieving the feat against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
Reacting to the award, Farhan expressed his delight, saying it was an incredible honor to perform on the world stage where millions of fans are watching. He credited his teammates for their support and vowed to carry forward his momentum in upcoming series.
This marks Farhan’s first ICC Player of the Month award, making him the first Pakistani male cricketer to receive the honor since Haris Rauf in November 2024.
His stellar performances also propelled him to a career-best second position in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. Additionally, Farhan was part of a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, the highest stand for any wicket in T20 Internationals.
Despite his heroics, Pakistan narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot due to net run rate. Farhan was also named in the ICC Team of the Tournament, capping off a memorable campaign.
