Samsung has started internal testing of its Android 17-based One UI 9 software for the Galaxy A24 4G, signaling the company’s continued efforts to expand support for its mid-range smartphone lineup.
According to information spotted on Samsung’s servers, a new One UI 9 test build carrying firmware version A245FXXUCGZF4 has surfaced for the Galaxy A24 4G. While Samsung has not officially announced a release timeline, the appearance of the firmware suggests that development of the next major software update is already underway.
The development comes only days after Samsung rolled out the stable Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy A24 4G. The swift transition to testing the next software version highlights Samsung’s accelerated update strategy as it works to bring newer Android features and improvements to a wider range of devices.
At present, Samsung’s One UI 9 beta programme remains limited to the Galaxy S26 series. The flagship lineup is currently the only range eligible to test the Android 17-based software ahead of its public release. However, reports indicate that Samsung is actively preparing One UI 9 for several Galaxy smartphones and tablets behind the scenes.
The company has not disclosed when the One UI 9 beta programme will expand to additional devices, including the Galaxy A24 4G. Users of the popular mid-range handset may have to wait several months before gaining access to a beta build or receiving the final stable version.
Samsung is also expected to launch its next generation of foldable smartphones with One UI 9 pre-installed. Industry rumours suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will debut with the new software out of the box.
The foldable devices are widely expected to be unveiled at a Samsung event in London on July 22, although the company has yet to confirm the launch date.
For Galaxy A24 4G users, the appearance of One UI 9 testing indicates that Samsung remains committed to delivering future Android updates to the device, even as the company continues rolling out One UI 8.5 across eligible markets.
