Google has introduced a new package tracking feature in Google Wallet, allowing users to monitor incoming deliveries directly from the app without needing to open individual tracking emails.
The new functionality automatically scans eligible emails in Gmail for digital receipts and shipment tracking numbers, then displays package updates within the Google Wallet interface.
Packages scheduled for delivery will appear on the Wallet home screen alongside payment cards and other stored items. Users can tap on a shipment to view more detailed tracking information and delivery status updates.
The feature aims to streamline package management by bringing delivery information into a single location. Google said the tracking integration does not alter or interfere with emails stored in Gmail.
The latest addition expands Google Wallet beyond its traditional role as a digital payments and document storage platform, reflecting the company’s broader efforts to turn the app into a hub for everyday digital services.
To enable the feature, users must have Gmail’s “Google Workspace smart features” setting activated. Google noted that package tracking currently supports many major retailers and shipping-related email formats, though compatibility may vary depending on the merchant.
The service is currently available only in the United States.
Package tracking is not entirely new to Google’s ecosystem. Similar functionality was previously offered through Google Now, the company’s former personal assistant service that later evolved into the Google Discover feed.
The rollout comes as technology companies increasingly seek to integrate shopping, payments and delivery tracking into a single user experience.
Google has not announced when the package tracking feature will expand to additional countries.Google Wallet Introduces Package Tracking for Deliveries
